- No tax increases
- Several new personal non-refundable tax credits introduced such as the Family Caregivers Tax Credit, Children’s Arts Tax Credit and Volunteer Firefighter Tax Credit
- Several enhancements to existing tax credits such as the Medical Expense Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Tuition and Education Tax Credit
- Allow transfers between individual RESPs for siblings
- Permit RDSP beneficiaries with shortened life expectancies to make withdrawals without triggering the repayment rule
- Tightening current tax rules
- New anti-avoidance rules for RSPs/RIFs introduced
- Past service contribution for IPPs to be funded first out of the plan member’s existing RSP
- Exemption from capital gains tax eliminated for donation of flow through shares
- “Kiddie tax” rule will now apply to capital gains realized by a minor
